Choose Your GFCI

Compare the three options before you buy. Start with how your equipment should restart.

1. Do you want to replace an existing plug?

Yes: compare our two 3-prong replacement plugs. Check the equipment instructions, voltage, load, grounding and cable compatibility before choosing.

No: the 3 ft GFCI extension cord adds three protected outlets without replacing a plug. It uses an automatic-reset GFCI, so connected equipment must be safe to restart when power returns.

2. Manual reset or automatic reset?

Manual reset: restart deliberately

After a trip, power stays off until you press RESET. Consider this option for compatible pressure washers and tools where an unexpected restart could be hazardous. Always follow the equipment manufacturer's instructions.

Automatic reset: choose compatible equipment carefully

This type can restore power automatically when conditions allow. Use it only with equipment designed to resume safely, and only where the equipment manufacturer permits this type of protection. A pool pump or other appliance is not automatically compatible simply because it runs unattended.

Check each product's label, specifications and included instructions before installation or use.

3. Check compatibility before ordering

  • Confirm your equipment and supply are compatible with the product's rated voltage and current.
  • Replacement plugs require a compatible 3-wire grounded cord. Do not use them to convert a 2-wire appliance or bypass grounding.
  • For the extension cord, the combined load across all three outlets must remain within 15A / 1800W.
  • Check the required reset behavior in your equipment manual.
  • Rainproof does not mean submersible. Keep connections clear of standing water.
Not sure? Email a photo of the equipment rating label, existing plug and cord markings to support@getgfci.com before ordering. Do not cut or open equipment while it is connected to power.
