Installation & Support

Practical checks for choosing, installing and testing your Kaper GFCI product.

Before you start: disconnect equipment from power. Follow the instructions supplied with your exact model and local electrical requirements. If you are unsure about wiring or compatibility, consult a qualified electrician.

Replacement plugs: prepare before installation

  1. Confirm compatibility. Check the cord type, grounding, rated load and reset requirements against the product label and equipment instructions.
  2. Inspect the equipment and cord. A damaged cable or appliance fault needs attention; replacing a plug does not repair those faults.
  3. Use the included model-specific instructions. Follow the specified wire preparation, terminal connections, strain relief and sealing requirements.
  4. Test before use. Perform the TEST/RESET procedure in the included instructions before operating the equipment.

This page is a preparation checklist, not a replacement for the supplied installation instructions. Need a copy for your model? Email support@getgfci.com with your order number and a photo of the product label.

3 ft extension cord: no rewiring

Inspect the cord and connections before use. Connect it to a suitable grounded outlet and follow the included TEST/RESET procedure before connecting compatible equipment.

  • Keep the total connected load within 15A / 1800W.
  • Use only with equipment that can safely resume operation when power returns.
  • Keep connections clear of standing water; rainproof does not mean submersible.
  • Stop using a damaged cord, plug or outlet.

TEST / RESET checks

Follow the procedure and test frequency stated in the instructions for your exact model. TEST should interrupt the protected power supply; RESET restores power when the device and circuit conditions allow.

If the device fails its test, stop using it and contact support. Do not bypass the GFCI or repeatedly reset it to keep faulty equipment running.

Common questions

It will not reset

Stop using the equipment. Check the supplied troubleshooting instructions and confirm a suitable power supply. If the problem continues, contact support; a persistent fault may be in the appliance or circuit.

It trips repeatedly

A trip can indicate a fault requiring investigation. Stop use, disconnect power and have the equipment checked. Do not assume the plug is the cause.

Which reset type should I buy?

Read our selection guide and check the equipment manufacturer's requirements. Choose automatic reset only when the equipment can safely resume operation.
